While it is not "business as usual," in the spirit of supporting our country, economy, industry, and the cities of Washington and Baltimore, The Event Network (Washington's Premier DMC) is doing our small part to embrace our leaders' message to get back to work. No doubt, these are difficult times. Like most companies in our industry, we have suffered some short-term cancellations, however we're happy to report that all our major commitments for 2002 have reconfirmed. We strongly, in our hearts, believe that incentives, client entertainment, and corporate travel are all intricately woven into the fabric of the American and global economies. We will have meetings convening in our town and visitors staying in our hotels as we work to get back to "business as usual."

X Of our 150 DC Tours, only 5 are closed. They are: The Capitol, The White House, The FBI Building, The Supreme Court and The Bureau of Engraving.

X All 66 museums and monuments are open with the exception of The Washington Monument, which is currently closed for renovations (would you believe the elevator is broken!)

1. Corcoran Gallery of Art - Jacqueline Kennedy; The White House Years - The Corcoran Gallery of Art celebrates Jacqueline Kennedy with a unique special exhibit of her iconic fashions. Some 80 original costumes and accessories from the collection of the John F. Kennedy Library and Museum are on display from April 6, 2001 through September 30, 2002. The exhibit features clothing worn by "Jackie" on the campaign trail, during the inaugural festivities, at the White House and on state visits around the world.

2. International Spy Museum - The International Spy Museum, opening Spring 2002, will tell the story of famous and infamous spies, master deceptions and intelligence operations that have changed the course of history. It will feature films, interactive technology, exhibits and one of the largest collections of espionage artifacts open to the public - including the legendary German cipher machine, the Enigma; secret KGB cameras; and sabotage weapons.

3. Air and Space Museum - In April 2001, construction began for the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, a new satellite branch of the popular Air and Space Museum. The Udvar-Hazy Center will have two major exhibition hangars with over 255,000 square feet of exhibit space. Over 300 aircraft and spacecraft will be on permanent display. The new facility is expected to be completed in September of 2003 and is located near Dulles Airport.

*At each of these new venues there will be space for group receptions and dinners.

5. Washington After Dark - There aren't many cities as gorgeous or romantic in the evening light as Washington, DC. Check out our monuments in the moonlight! Breathtaking highlights include the White House, the Capitol Building, and the Lincoln Memorial.

6. Presidents and our Cathedral - This tour highlights the roles our presidents have played in the history of the Washington National Cathedral. The Cathedral was completed in 1990 after 83 years of construction during which US Presidents played key roles in its design and use. It is the sixth largest cathedral in the world and an outstanding example of Gothic architecture in the US.

7. Culture and Technology - The Newseum, located just across the Potomac in Virginia, is the first interactive news museum that takes guests behind the scenes to learn how and why news is made. You will recognize many of the photos on display and the stories behind them are impressive in their joy, tragedy, technology, or history.

8. DC Spy Tour - Very cool! (And creepy) The spy tour takes you around several of the locations that have been associated with intelligence and counter-intelligence activities for the past two hundred years. The opening of the new Spy Museum in the Spring will add to an already intriguing tour.
